The Alcohol and Drug Foundation, Australian Capital Territory (ADFACT), is incorporated under the ACT Associations Incorporation Act 1991. It is a public benevolent institution, a charitable institution and an approved gift fund and exempt from income tax. ADFACT was established in Canberra in 1976 as a response to the communitys growing concern at the escalating use of drugs, especially among young people. ADFACT aims: In 1978 the ADFACT residential treatment program commenced at Fadden in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). In 1987 it was substantially reorganised following an evaluation report funded by the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse. In 1989 larger additional premises for the Karralika Program were commissioned at Isabella Plains, ACT. The Karralika Family Program and Childcare Centre were also established in 1989. ADFACT is currently responsible for the supervision, administration and development of the following programs:
ADFACT is a community-based organisation and its governing body is elected at an annual general meeting of its membership. |
