STRONGER FAMILIES PROJECT

ADFACT works in partnership with Communities @ Work in the delivery of early childhood and school aged care programs for the children involved in an ADFACT service aged between 6 weeks to 12 years.

ADFACT and Communities @ Work are committed to working collaboratively to provide an integrated model of care within a Communities @ Work, Early Childhood Centre and After School and Vacational Care Centre.

The aim of the integrated program is to provide an environment that is warm, caring and friendly and offers a sense of predictability and safety for each child. The program focuses on positive relationships and secure attachments for each child and this is achieved through primary care giving. We seek to support the emotional well being of each child and ensure sensitivity to the child's individual circumstances. The program will provided a stimulating and interesting environment with experiences to enhance the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development and interests of the individual child.

The integrated model provides a professional service with qualified staff who values their work in supporting children and families in difficult circumstances.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • To treat all children equally and with respect and to ensure an anti-bias approach to the care and education provided;
  • To show respect for a diversity of background with the program having a culturally diverse perspective;
  • To provide experiences that fosters the children's involvement in the environment and the community;
  • To provide a variety of experiences that enriches and extends each child's individual needs and interests;
  • To give each child the individual attention they require which meets their developmental needs physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally;
  • To foster a positive self esteem in each child;
  • To provide the opportunity for the child to make decisons, to take responsibility and express them appropriately;
  • To foster feelings of happiness and belonging in each child;

  • To assist the child in understanding limits and why they exist; and
  • To provide each child with an understanding of health, hygiene and diet.

Staffing

The partnership between ADFACT and Communities @ Work has three qualified childcare professionals working with the children within the integrated model.

The ADFACT Child and Family Team which consists of the Manager, Psychologistsand Child and Family Support Worker provide specialised services that support the children within the Communities @ Work services they attend.

The Child and Family Team also provide the Communities @ Work staff training and support to assist them in the provision of a high quality program for the children.
