ADFACT has had a sound record in alcohol and other drug treatment and rehabilitation since 1976. This includes a record of achievement in the provision of community-based treatment which specifically targets adults and families through the delivery of a range of residential and educational programs. The first residential program (Karralika) was established by ADFACT in 1978. In 1985 the Men's Halfway House Program (MHWH, now incorporated into The Nexus Program) was established, and in 1987 the facilities at Karralika were extended to cater for the growing need for services in the ACT community. In 1989, the Karralika Program was again extended with the establishment of a new treatment facility, and the opening of the Karralika Family Program. As part of the Karralika Family program the stronger families project has been established to provide a range of targeted services for children and their families. The Stronger families project focuses on the emotional, developmental and social needs of the child, working with the whole family to establish postive parent-child relationships. |
